Nathan Lindsay has been waiting for quite a while for a chance to fight for the V3Fights’ flyweight title.  He has defeated former champion, Chance Wilson, as well as top contender, Frankie Nuffio, and was then scheduled to fight twice for the title in which those fights fell through.  But on September 5, the wait is finally over and Lindsay will go head to head with Zak Thompson for the vacant title.

He is currently 10-7 (9-3 at 125) and fights out of Nashville MMA.  He weighed in on this opportunity and his shot at the title…

What are your thoughts on this fight and your opponent Zack Thompson?

I think this is a good fight because most people I’ve fought didn’t want to go to the ground with me because of my submissions.  But this dude is a BJJ brown belt so he won’t be.  He’s a good opponent whom I respect but best believe I’m coming for that finish.  I’m excited to test my skills.

You have been scheduled to fight for the title a few times and they fell through, how does it finally feel to be getting this shot?

This is the third time I’ve been scheduled to fight for the V3 belt.  The other two fights both fell through on the day of weigh ins, so when I step in the cage it’ll be awesome!

How has camp been for this fight?

Camp has been hell like it always is, but that’s a good thing.  Camp is always harder than the fight, especially at NMMA!

Where do you feel you have the advantage in this fight and what is your biggest strength as a fighter?

I feel that I have got the experience advantage.  I know he’s been training as long as I have, but I have more fights.  My heart is my biggest strength.  If you don’t believe me, ask my coaches and teammates.

Anything else you want to add?

I just want to say thanks to my coach, Lance Patrick.  Thanks to Charlie and Ahya and thanks to all my coaches and teammates at NMMA for getting me ready.  Thanks to my family and friends who have always supported me on this journey in my life.  You all are awesome.  I wouldn’t be here without you all.
