Former featherweight champion, Kyle Hughes, will now step into the V3Fights’ cage as a professional on November 19.
Hughes is currently 1-0, and standing in his way will be Alejandro Castaneda in the much-anticipated rematch from their amateur days in which Hughes won via first round submission.
Hughes knew it was time to turn professional when he was having problems finding fights as an amateur. He had five opponents back out and he knew turning pro would help avoid that problem. Since turning pro, he has stepped up his training and is now focused more on strength and conditioning as well as nutrition and is ready to go 5x5 minute rounds. He considers The Fight Clinic his home gym, but also cross trains with the prestigious Memphis Judo and Jiu-Jitsu and while school is in session he also trains in Oxford. When asked about this opportunity and opponent, here is what Hughes had to say:
“I think he’s a game opponent obviously, since he wants a rematch. I think he is scrappy and has some solid grappling skills and pretty good pressure. I respect him for stepping up and taking this fight again, but I see myself getting the finish again.”
Kyle Hughes is one of the top up and coming fighters in the mid-south area and on November 19 will look to continue his winning ways and stay undefeated. Get your tickets now!
