After a three layoff, V3Fights will be bringing back the women’s bantamweight title where Toni Tallman will be taking on Cam Pollard on October 20 at the very same place where the title went vacant, The Fitz Casino in Tunica, MS.
Both fighters are coming off huge wins at V3Fights 67 which earned them this opportunity. Tallman took on fast rising star, Skylar Mann and won via unanimous decision while Pollard took on Mann’s teammate Shelby Davis and put on a striking clinic and won via verbal tapout.
Tallman is currently 7-7-1 and fights out of Fayettville Fitness Kickboxing. She got started in MMA when she was looking for a new challenge and her friend, pro boxer, Kim-Connor Hamby, asked if she wanted to give MMA a try. She decided to give it a go and the rest is history. She brings in a wealth of experience to the cage and has fought a who’s who in the WMMA world with the likes of Jamie Milanowski, Ashley Samples and Amberlynn Orr (last female bantamweight champion).
Pollard is currently 1-1 in MMA and 1-0 in kickboxing and trains at the UFC Gym in Cordova, TN. Combat sports such as boxing and wrestling was always a way channel her temper and restlessness. She fluttered back and forth for a while with the idea of getting into MMA and her brother always thought that she would be good at it. He passed away when he was seventeen and she started doing MMA to keep her busy and stay in shape. She soon fell in love with the sport and so began her MMA journey.
Both women weighed in on this fight and opportunity and here is what they had to say:
Toni Tallman - “I have a lot of experience under my belt. I can't predict the future so I can't say how the fight will end up, but I know it'll be a good one. I think Cameron is great and a hard working girl, so I'm looking forward to the fight.”
Cam Pollard – “I'm really looking forward this fight, I feel like it's going to be a good test for me. Toni has a lot of experience and we're both pretty aggressive. I think it's going to be one of the most exciting WMMA fights the mid-south has ever seen. I feel like my advantage lies in the fact people don't really know what I'm capable of yet. I'm younger and still pretty new to the game. However, I still feel like I'm a very well-rounded mixed martial artist and a danger to anyone who gets in the cage with me.”
This bout has ‘Fight of the Night’ honors written all over it and on October 20, V3’s next champion will be crowned. Get your tickets now and witness it all!
