Two amateur titles will be on the line on Saturday night in Tunica, MS.

Jacob Sandlin (5-2) was scheduled to fight Cody Shelton for the vacant bantamweight title, but on Monday Shelton had to pull out due to doctor’s orders.  In steps current flyweight champion, Darrius Foster (5-1) to face Sandlin for the chance to become a V3 double champion.  There has been talk for quite some time about these two fighting each other and on Saturday night it will finally happen.  Check out what both fighters had to say about their upcoming fight with one another:

Darrius Foster

I feel like Jacob is very tough.  I’m about a fight or two away from turning pro so I really want to take advantage of my time I have left as an amateur and take some risks.  I know taking a fight against Jacob on a week’s notice is risky, but I’m a very dangerous fighter and I’m very confident in my abilities.  It should be fun!

Jacob Sandlin

This is the best opportunity for me to demonstrate my skill.

Last march, Malik Anbar (4-1) won the vacant featherweight title in dominant fashion with a first round submission (kimura).  On Saturday night, he faces a tough task when two time region 8 wrestling champion and undefeated fighter, Cameron Hall (3-0) looks to dethrone him.  Both fighters weighed in on their upcoming fight:

Cameron Hall

I’m excited to see what Malik has for me, other than the belt.  All of my fights have been one-sided so far.  I’ll look to continue that trend.  He’s no doubt a big step up in competition for me.  He’s the current champ and his record speaks for itself.  Saturday should be a lot of fun.

Malik Anbar (champion)

I feel as prepared as I can be.  He’s the best guy I’ve fought so far so it should be good.

Patiently waiting for the outcome of these fights are bantamweight Nahtan Gilmore and featherweight Ahva Mayi who will challenge the winners and fight them on January 19.  A lot of interesting things are happening in these two weight divisions and it all starts on Saturday night.  Get your tickets now!
