The MPD will invade Tunica, MS on Saturday night when Brian “The Law” Hall returns to the V3 cage!
Hall (9-4) has been with the promotion since the beginning and was their first ever bantamweight champion as an amateur. He then went on to main event several more shows before making his professional debut in 2011 where he fought for some of the top promotions in the world including Bellator MMA, XFC and LFC. It’s been two and a half years since the V3 Legion (September 2015) has seem Hall in action so they are eager to see the new and improved “LAW.”
Hall is fighting out of Memphis, TN and is an MPD officer that teaches combatives at the MPD Boxing Gym where he still holds part of his training camp. The other half of his camp is now being held at the UFC Gym Cordova where he is their head MMA coach. We sat down with ‘The Law’ and here is what he had to say about this fight, this opportunity and his MMA career.
What are your thoughts about this upcoming fight after being away from the cage for two and a half years?
I felt that this fight was needed because for my last fight, all I had was one person to help me (Sam Hearn 3-0). I wanted to show what I looked like closer to my full potential, which I believe I’m reaching now that I’ve built a strong team that has helped me grow as a fighter. I also took this fight to give an example, specifically to my fighters and show what’s possible when you create an unselfish, supportive environment for yourself as well as your teammates.
Speaking of teammates, you now train and teach at the UFC Gym Cordova and I know some of your students followed you over there and you also have a lot of new students and training partners. How has that been?
I’m having a lot of fun at UFC Gym Cordova. It’s such a welcoming environment. It’s like having another family outside of my own. This is the first time I'm teaching non-fighters, so it’s a challenge. It’s so much fun to be able to help my fellow officers and civilians reach their fitness goals.
What left do you still want to accomplish in this sport?
I’ve already accomplished everything I want to in this sport, now it’s just about having fun like I did as an amateur. Some people like to forget all of the things I’ve already accomplished in this sport, but the important people know and acknowledge how many doors I’ve opened for others in this area.
Anything else you want to add?
I would like to thank God first and foremost for giving me the health and knowledge to do what I love. I would also like to thank my wife and kids for their support throughout my training camp. Next I would like to thank my coaches Anthony Jones, Austin Lyons and Mike Cook as well as my training partners AJ, Darrius Foster, Reggie Adams, Cameron Pollard, Deshimar Rodridguez and Lorenzo Nathan. They’ve all helped me prepare for war. Lastly, I would like to thank all my friends, family and sponsors (Lawful Sons, Fight Swag, Mike Burnett Co, Rock Steady Boxing and Jits Revolution) for their continued support.
Brian Hall has over thirty fights and each and every time he’s stepped into the cage/ring it has been a treat. Fight fans don’t want to miss ‘The Law’ in action on Saturday night, so get your tickets now!
