Ten years ago, James Horne weighed over 240 pounds and needed to do something to get in shape!  What he found was an MMA gym and he tried it out to see what it was all about and had a little bit of a rocky start.  He got tired of his teammates always beating him up but decided to take a fight anyways so he wouldn’t have any regrets later in life.  The rest is history!

Horne (4-1, Black Sails MMA/Ridgeland, MS) has a bright future in this sport and comes into his June 16 fight with a lot of momentum!  In April, he was considered the underdog in his fight against a very dangerous fighter in Jesse James but came out victorious via second round arm bar.

“Fighting Jesse James was a big fight for me.  I was able to do some things good, however, I wasn’t nearly the fighter that I will be on June 16.  I’m working harder and training smarter than I ever have,” states Horne.

On June 16, Horne has another tough task in front of him when he takes on undefeated, All-American wrestler, Punahele Soriano.  When asked about this fight, here is what he had to say:

“This fight is an exciting fight and will be the first payment for the hard work that I have put in.  My opponent brings a specific skill set to this fight.  I’ll be putting that to the test and it will be a fun fight.  Luck is for those who haven’t put in the work.  The only thing that follows hard work is GREATNESS.  June 16 will be just the beginning.  I am defined by my heart and will not fail!”

An impressive victory over Punahele could put Horne on the fast track to the UFC because scouting in the crowd will be UFC president, Dana White.

“I am truly thankful for this opportunity!  This will be the first of many fights in front of Dana White.  It’s an honor to be able to showcase what Black Sails MMA is all about.  We are animals!  At the end of my life when I stand before my maker, I want to be able to honestly say ‘God, I used everything you gave me.’”

Horne has been on a tear as of late and he will look to continue his winning ways on June 16.  Get your tickets now!
